Its official – SHEKEL's "Harutzim" café is launched!

Jerusalem Mayor, Nir Barkat, smiled broadly and spoke of his "sense of gratification and pride that this café is opening in Jerusalem." The café, which employs and trains people disabilities to work in Israel's restaurant industry, is the first of its type in Jerusalem.

"We owe you SHEKEL, great thanks and appreciation… every year we see more of your groundbreaking work" said Barkat. "It's all thanks to your professionalism and ability to develop new models".

SHEKEL CEO, Clara Feldman, stressed that people with disabilities are not a weak sector of the community. "They are strong people" she said, "You just have to give them a chance". Feldman warmly thanked SHEKEL's partners: The National Insurance Institute's foundation for developing services for people with disabilities; business partner, Nir Segal; The Jerusalem Foundation; and the Ministry of Welfare's intellectual disability department.
