We wish to thank you and the dedicated SHEKEL staff on behalf of our whole family for your compassionate and devoted care of our daughter Z. 

For many years Z did not receive suitable care and only now that she is finally getting good, comprehensive care, can we properly appreciate what she was missing. Despite many ups and downs, Z has adjusted to her SHEKEL group home, friends and instructors better than we could have ever imagined. 

We want to express our deepest appreciation for your understanding and patience in dealing with Z’s problems as they arise and are aware of the demanding challenge she poses for the staff. We appreciate your efforts to get to know her and, above all, the knowledge that everything is done with great love, patience and understanding.

To Whom it May Concern, 

Our son Moshe has Down syndrome and works at SHEKEL. During the past year, Moshe has been working at recycling at the Hebrew University’s Mt. Scopus and Givat Ram campuses. Since he started working outside the sheltered workshop he has gained more self-confidence and self-esteem, his verbal communication has improved, his sense of direction and ability to use public transportation and reach various destinations have improved, contributing significantly to his confidence and independence. 

We wish to express our thanks and appreciation to SHEKEL for all the help, support and constant care that enabled Moshe to reach this point. Without SHEKEL’s support, it would have been very difficult for him to manage alone, and therefore it is very important that other people with disabilities be given the chance to work at jobs in regular places of work in the community.
